Remote Supervision

Another day course with Adventure Scotland..

This time is was to attend a module for remote supervision of Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition groups. The topics covered camp craft, cooking, assessing candidates from a distance and a wide range of other issues which arrive when dealing with groups in remote areas.

As well as having a classroom element, we took a trip to Scolty Hill, near Banchory, for a bit of a show and tell of tents, cooking equipment and rucksack contents.

Manage to pick up lots of useful information on the day. I've now got a heap of interesting ways to teach children navigation skills. As usual, Adventure Scotland and their instructors delivered another quality training day.
